Abstract:
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the therapeutic effect and safety of holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy for treating ureteral calculi combined with acute renal failure.
METHODS:Ureteroscopic holmium: YAG laser lithotripsy was used in 13 cases of ureteral calculi.
RESULTS:After the operation the serum Bun and Cr levels in the patients decreased to different degrees or returned to normal and the stone free rate was up to 92.3% (12/13).
CONCLUSION:The ureteroscopic holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy can be the first choice for the upper urinary tract obstruction associated with acute renal failure, due to its safety and efficiency. It can also deal with the double sites of ureteral diseases.
