Abstract:
The clinical data of 100 children or infants with penile hypospadias corrected with modified Snodgrass procedure during January 2013 to April 2016 from Yongchuan Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were retrospectively analyzed, including 50 cases aged <1 year (study group) and 50 cases aged >1 years (control group). The cure rates of study group and control group were 98% and 90%, and there was no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). There were also no significant differences in intraoperative blood loss, postoperative ambulation time, length of hospital stay, pain scores and quality of life scores between two groups (P>0.05). However, the incidence of major complications, including urethral fistula, urethral opening stenosis, penis malunion, penile curvature in study group was lower than that in control group (P<0.05). This study indicates that hypospadias correction during infancy may achieve better outcomes.
