Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the incidence rate and related factors of depression in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).
Methods:From February 2016 to November 2016, 261 COPD patients in Wenzhou Central Hospital were collected by cluster sampling method. The patients' medical history, classification of lung function, score of Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS) and COPD assessment test(CAT) were recorded in order to investigate the incidence rate and related factors of depression.
Results:The incidence of depression in COPD patients was 42.53%.Spearman's correlation showed that the factors related to depression including without spouse, smoking, duration of COPD and classification of lung function(r=0.282, 0.188, 0.201, 0.192, all P<0.01). Non-conditional logistic regression analysis revealed that without spouse and smoking were independent risk factors of depression in COPD patients(OR=0.208, 95% CI 0.093~0.469; OR=2.029, 95% CI 1.054~3.906; all P<0.05).
Conclusion:COPD patients have high prevalence of depression. The occurrence of depression in COPD patients is related to lack of family support, poor living habits, chronic disease and severe pulmonary function, especially without spouse and smoking are related to depression among COPD patients.
