Abstract: Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) can effectively reduce portal hypertension, prevent recurrent esophagogastric variceal bleeding, and relieve intractable ascites. TIPS involves vessel puncture, expansion of puncture tract within the liver parenchyma, and stent implantation, and may cause various complications. The effective prevention and treatment of TIPS-related complications have become a new direction for research in TIPS. This article reviews the intraoperative and postoperative complications of TIPS and related preventive and treatment strategies.
