Abstract: Recently, more and more studies have shown that the development and progression of primary liver cancer (hereinafter referred to as liver cancer) is closely associated with the metabolism in human body, and metabolic disturbance in human body increases the incidence and mortality of liver cancer. The prevention and treatment of liver cancer with drugs improving metabolism is a hot research topic nowadays. This article introduces three metabolic agents, S-Adenosylmethionine, metformin, and statins, which can be used for the prevention and treatment of liver cancer, as well as their association with the pathogenesis of liver cancer and possible mechanisms of action. The article points out that further studies are needed to investigate the association between metabolism and the pathogenesis of liver cancer, in order to find more metabolic agents for the prevention and treatment of liver cancer in future.
