Abstract:
Hepatocellular carcinoma can metastasize via the blood vessels or the lymphatics and may invade adjacent tissues directly. But skin metastases from primary hepatocellular carcinoma occur rarely, though hepatocellular carcinoma is a common malignancy in Korea. We report cases of cutaneous metastasis in patients with preexisting hepatocellular carcinoma. First patient was a 64-year-old male who had multiple indurated papules and nodules on the scalp. Nodules, which were composed of tumor cells and intervening capillaries, showed characteristic histopathologic features mimicking those of primary hepatocellular carcinoma. The other patient was a 55-year-old female presenting a solitary nodule on the vulva, which showed the histopathology similar to those of the first patient. We discussed these cases with a review of previous reports of skin metastasis from hepatocellular carcinoma.
