Abstract:
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the prognosis of sudden deafness patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).
METHOD:The clinical data of 24 sudden deafness patients with BPPV was analyzed. The outcome of 125 sudden deafness patients without BPPV at the same time was compared.
RESULT:Hearing improvement after three months treatment was 41.67% and 72.80% in sudden deafness patients with BPPV and sudden deafness patients without BPPV, respectively. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).
CONCLUSION:The prognosis of hearing in sudden deafness patients with BPPV is worse than that in sudden deafness patients without BPPV. BPPV may predict a poor hearing outcome in sudden deafness.
