Abstract:
Gastroesophageal reflux (GER) is a common gastroenterological complication in preterm infants,and which can be divided into physiological GER and pathological GER.Physiological GER generally present no clinical symptoms,while pathological GER manifest as vomiting,milk retention,irritation,and growth retardation.In severe cases apnea,repeated aspiration pneumonia,reflux esophagitis or sudden death might happen.Therefore,understanding the etiology of GER,timely diagnosis,and considerate treatment plan would be crucial to reducing severe sequelae of GER in preterm infants.
