Abstract:
Primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide. At present, the molecular mechanism of the carcinogenesis and development of HCC have not been systematically elucidated.Silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1) is a histone deacetylase, which is dependent on nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+).It is involved in many biological processes such as metabolism, oxidative stress, genotoxicity, aging and tumor formation.During the recent years, thefunction of SIRT1 in the carcinogenesis and progress of HCC has attracted wide attention.SIRT1 is abnormally expressed in the development of HCC,and acts as an oncogene. It promotes the proliferation, apoptosis, metastasis and chemotherapy resistance of HCC through multiple molecular pathways including microRNA,AMP-activated protein kinase,Yes-associated protein,telomerase,autophagy,PI3K/Akt and so on.In this article,we discussed the latest research progress of SIRT1 in HCC.
