Abstract:
Perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain damage is still threatening the quality of the survivors.Immediate hypothermia on the basis of early multimodality therapy is a good therapy for newborn with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE).The neuroprotective effects of hypothermia therapy are noted at 18 months of age persist to childhood. This paper will discuss the neuroprotective mechanism of hypothermia for neonate HIE,the clinical application of cooling and the novel strategies of hypothermia plus adjuvant therapies.
