Abstract: Liver cirrhosis is a kind of clinical common disease and the prognosis is poor. Renal damage, whether acute or chronic,are common in patients with cirrhosis,which has a direct relationship with the poor prognosis of liver cirrhosis. Therefore, early accurate assessment of renal function is very important for early warning and prevention of early hepatorenal syndrome in patients with liver cirrhosis. In recent years, a lot of researches have proved that serum cystatin C was able to overcome the disadvantages of serum creatinine, which can be used as an ideal endogenous marker of glomerular filtration rate. This paper summarizes related research progress on cystatin C and liver cirrhosis.
