Abstract:
Objective To study the relationship between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) disease activity (DAS28) and thyroid-associated antibodies. Methods Three hundred patients with newly diagnosed RA who were hospitalized were divided into three groups, namely the double-negative,single-positive,and double-positive groups. We recorded the ages of the patients, the number of swollen joints and tender joints, and the values of erythrocyte sedimentation rate, thyroid peroxidase antibody, and thyroglobulin antibody to calculate the DAS28 score and analyze the results. Results The differences in DAS28 score among the three groups were statistically significant, and the DAS28 scores in the positive group was higher than that in the negative group. However,no significant differences were found between the single-positive group and the double-positive group. Thyroid-related antibodies were not significantly associated with DAS28 score. Conclusion Although the thyroid-associated antibody level do not correlate with DAS28 score,a certain effect may exist on the DAS28 score, suggesting a certain interaction among autoimmune diseases.
