Abstract:
Silent information regulator 1(SIRT1),a member of the Sirtuin family,is a deacetylase depending on nicotinamide adenine di-nucleotide and is mainly involved in energy metabolism, cell survival, aging, and apoptosis. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a chronic liver disease closely related to insulin resistance, oxidative stress, and lipid peroxidation. This article elaborates on the association of SIRT1 with energy metabolism, oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation, and endoplasmic reticulum stress and points out that SIRT1 is closely as-sociated with the development and progression of NAFLD.
