Abstract:
Objective To investigate the expression of proapoptotic gene Bax and its association with apoptosis in gastric carcinoma and paracancerous tissues. Method Bax protein expression and the density and distribution of the apoptotic cells in situ in 50 gastric carcinoma and 33 paracancerous tissues were observed using immunohistochemical staining and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated nick end labelling(TUNEL)technique.Result The positive rate and staining intensity of Bax protein in paracancerous tissues were significantly higher than that in gastric carcinoma (P0.05 for each),it was strongly associated with intestinal type gastric carcinoma and well/moderately-differentiated gastric carcinoma (P
