Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate the effects of the combined radiofrequency (RF) with oral appliance (OA) therapy on obstructive sleep apnea(OSA). Methods: 15 patients with OSA were diagnosed by overnight monitoring of polysomnography(PSG).They all received bi-polar radiofrequency treatment on palate twice.Polysomnography were taken for the patients 6 weeks after the second RF treatment. 10 cases without TMJ disease and periodontal disease with more than 10 teeth on each of maxillae or mandibulae were treated with OA. Reexamination of PSG was taken one month after application of OA.Statistic analyses were made in the measurements of PSG. Results:PSG measurements showed sleep improvement after treatment(P
