Study the impact of working condition on male workers’ health in Thai Nguyen steel refining factory

Abstract:
Study was carried out at Thai Nguyen steel refining factory from September 2004 to May 2005. Survey, examination of working environment, working condition at the main departments of the factory were implemented; direct examination for 521 male workers, aged from 20-45 years. Results: the temporature inside the workshop was higher than surrouding area from 0.6-12.30C, the processing area was dry, low humidity, wind speed and degree of illumination was under allowed limits. In almost of the processing area, noise level of CO, CO2, SO2 gas all in allowed limits. 67% of samples measured the overall dust and respiratory dust level were over the standards; only the concentration of H2S gas was under limitation. Male workers’ health of rather good (II) and average (III) levels were 69.86%, health of bad (IV) and very bad (V) were 27.25%. The rate of dental disease was 23.44%, otorhinology disease 21.72%, digestive disease 14.06%, muscular disease 9.84%, professional diseases 4.84%.
