Abstract: Normal function of lacrimal gland plays an important role in the dry eye syndrome-More and more attention had been given to the impact of hormones,especially sex hormones,on lacrimal structure and function.Sex hormone replacement therapy is also considered as a new approach to the treatment of dry eye syndrome.But other hormones,example coming from hypothalamic-pituitary axis such as prolactin,promote black hormone,adrenocorticotropic hormone and luteinizing hormone,follicle-stimulating hormone,thyroid stimulating hormone and growth hormone as well as thyroid element,insulin,glucocorticoid,glucagon coming from endocrine glands also are involve in growth,differentiation,organization and functional activities of lacrimal gland.A variety of hormones-related structure and function of lacromal gland are reviewed in this paper.
