Analysis on the surgicul treatment of thyroid cancer in young patients

Abstract: Objective To investigate the surgical treatment and its effect on thyroid carcinoma in young patients.Methods Clinical data of 44 young patients and 83 aged patients with thyroid carcinoma in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University undergoing surgical treatment from 2002 to 2009 were analyzed entiated thyroid carcinoma accounted for 93.18%,among which 86.36%was papillary carcinoma.Male female 73.49%,among which 67.47%was papillary carcinoma.Conclusions Differentiated thyroid carcinoma makes the maximum propo~ion in this group of patients with thyroid cancer.Individualized solutions should be taken according to lesion pathology,TNM stages,location,size and physical conditions of the patient.Specialized training,meticulous operating,and proper surgery procedure can reduce complications.Systemic hormone therapy and 131I treatment can decrease postoperative recurrence rate.
