Effect of Tangniaole capsule combined with metformin on the blood glucose, urine glucose and insulin resistance in patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus

Abstract: Objective To investigate the application value of Tangniaole capsule combined with metformin in patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods 120 cases of patients with newly diagnosed T2DM were divided into the control group and the observation group.The control group was treated with metformin while the observation group was additionally treated with Tangniaole capsule.Symptoms and signs, changes in blood glucose, urine glucose, insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) and insulin secretion (HOMA-β) were compared between the two groups.The incidence of adverse reactions was statistically analyzed.Results The curative effect in the observation group was better than control group (P<0.05).After treatment, scores of symptoms and signs, blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), 24 h urine glucose quantitation and HOMA-IR were lower, and HOMA-β was higher in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Tangniaole capsule combined with metformin is effective in the treatment of newly diagnosed T2DM, and it can reduce blood glucose, urine glucose and insulin resistance.
