Abstract:
Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists are a novel type of drugs for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM),and its impact on bone metabolism has drawn great attention nowadays. This review reveals the impact and potential mechanism of GLP-1 on bone metabolism:GLP-1 enhances bone mineral density and improves bone quality and it may act on bone by promoting bone formation, inhibiting bone resorption and affecting the coupling mechanism of them in order to play its role in bone metabolism.
