Abstract:
Objective To observe the short-term clinical efficacy and long-term relapse-prevention effect of acupuncture therapy in treating allergic rhinitis.Method Sixty-four moderate allergic rhinitis patients were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 32 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by acupuncture, while the control group was intervened by oral administration of Loratadine tablets. The two groups were treated with 10 days as a treatment course. The Uni-VAS and Multi-VAS scores were observed before the treatment, after 3 treatment courses, and 6 months after the treatment.Result After the treatment and 6 months after the treatment, the Uni-VAS and Multi-VAS scores were significantly decreased in both groups compared with the scores before the treatment (allP<0.01), and the scores in the treatment group were significantly superior to those in the control group (P<0.01,P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture can improve the sings and symptoms of allergic rhinitis and can well prevent the relapse in a long term.
