A correlation study of humanistic quality and professional identity of nurses with master's degree

Abstract: Objective To investigate the status quo of humanistic quality and professional identity of nurses with master′s degree and explore their correlation. Methods A cross-sectional survey was adopted. Totally 198 nurses with master′s degree were investigated with the Nursing Caring Characters Assessment Tool (NCCAT) and the Professional Identity Scale. Results The average score of NCCAT was 121.64 ± 9.09. The average score of the professional identity was 33.90 ± 6.24. Correlation analysis showed that NCCAT score was positively correlated to the professional identity (r=0.316, P=0.000). Conclusions The results indicate that nurses with master's degree need to improve their caring characters; professional identity can serve as an intervention to improve the caring characters of nurses with master′s degree.
