Clinical effect analysis of external nutrition support after esophageal carcinoma excision

Abstract: Objective To investigate the influence of external and parenteral nutrition support on patients after esophageal carcinoma excision and to estimate the clinical significance of enteral nutrition in postoperative earlier period. Methods The patients of parenteral nu-trition group ( PN group) received completely parenteral nutrition support. Patients of external nutrition group ( EN group) received intrave-nous support at the first day after operation,and then they were given enteral nutrition preparation Fresubin through nasal intestines nutrition tube from the second day after operation. And the nutritional targets and immunological function were examined at different point in time. Re-sults Time of postoperative exhaust,defecation and hospital stay in EN group were all shorter than those of the PN group. Index of nutritional and immune function in EN group was better than the PN group. Conclusion The external nutrition support after esophageal carcinoma exci-sion can improve the intestinal motility function,nutritional status and immunological function.
