Remarks on the effects of Polidocanol solution in the treatment of endoscopic peptic bleeding ulcer

Abstract:
Remarks on the effectiveness of polidocanol solution in the treatment of peptic bleeding induced by duodenal ulcers in 52 patients (42 males, 10 females, between 17 and 86 years old) at the Military Hospital No.103 from February 2002 to November 2002. The results: polidocanol was tolerated well, nearly without allergy and toxicity. With a short of sub-elimination time, the drug was eliminated fast via stools and urine within 1.6 hours. Polidocanol solution was a very good hemostatic for peptic bleeding induced by duodenal ulcers. The successful rate was 92.3%, in which stable hemostatic condition after the first injection was observed in 76.9%; 12 patients needed the second injection (23.1%). There were 4 patients had to undergo surgery due to having crowed bleeding. There were no local or systemic events
