The evaluation of KAP on passive smoking and the approach level of education communication on the harms of smoking in 2003

Abstract:
KAP survey on passive smoking was carried out on 452 adults (>=15 years old) in Hai phong in 2003, the following main conclusions have been gained: -78.5% of the survey households with smokers and 67.9% of them smoking at home. Most of people knew the harms of active smoking (99.1%) and passive smoking (73.2%) but it is not enough because only some of them knew some diseases relating to smoking. More than 90% of smokers attemp to quit and 90.2% from the results of their health. 92.2% of them get information of tobaco hazards from the TV, mainly from VTV1 (54.2%). Some of the smokers have the behaviours decreasing the harm of tobacco smoke to others. Smoking outside the house is 34.5%.
