Abstract:
To find out whether articles that recommended by F1000 medical edition really contain more valuable information than others.Thirty articles published in NEJM were selected from F1000 medical edition (Group A).For each article that entered our collection, another article was picked out from the same issue as control (Group B).ISI Web Service was usedto gain the cited times of these selected articles. The results were statisticallyanalyzed with paired t test.Total cited times were range from 54 to 1 256 in group A versus 20~614 in group B,with 345.2 versus 198.6 in meantimes.Meancited times of first three years was 144.2 in group A versus 88.9 in group B and 210 versus 109.8 in the years that follows.Cited times of articles in group A was higher than that of group B significantly (P=0.05,t=2.430 9).F1000 articles contain more valuable information than others and can act as an important role in acquiring high quality medical information. As F1000 does not contain all high quality information in medical field, other tools are needed if onewants to get all of the concerning information.
