Evaluating on improving life quality of children with motional disability after plastic surgery at Kim Son, Ninh Bình 12/2004

Abstract:
Measurement of Health Related Quality of Life is one of the common tools used to evaluate health states in the public health field over the world, but hasn't been used in Viet Nam. The final objective of a medical program for people with disability is improving life quality of them by health care and rehabilitation services. Besides evaluating amelioration of diseases, measurement of Health Related Quality of Life is a necessary additional part for evaluating medical program outcome. This study included 30 children under 5 years, with motional disability after plastic surgery at Kimson district, Ninhbinh province in Dec 2004. The results of the study showed that mean of motional range improved from pre-operative mean of 83.25% to post-operative mean of 89.7% (p<0.05) with Zero scale. Mean of HRQL score with SF-36 preoperative was 61 (SD = 18.29). The changes after operation had no statistical significance (p>0.05).
