Utilization of Digital Imaging Techniques in Hysterosalpingography

Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the clinical value and technical advantages of digital imaging techniques in hysterosalpingography(HSG). Method 10 ml Lipiodol was injected slowly under fluoroscopic monitoring, and the 1st X-ray image was taken when the cavity of uterus was filled;Lipiodol injection was stopped when the contrast media was into pelvic cavity,and another image was taken 24 h later.All the visualization was exposed under television, collected by IP boards, processed and stored by CR system. Results Of he 220 patients with infertility, 50 cases were diagnosed with duodenal ampulla dropsy, 38 cases with fimbriae tubae, 27 cases with infantile uterus, 20 with uterine tube adhesion, and 15 with pelvic cavity adhesion. Conclusion Digital imaging techniques applied in HSG have many advantages including short examination time, dynamic observation under fluoroscopic monitoring, high definition of contrastographic picture, and image taken at optimistic time. Compared with traditional HSG techniques, it can also support image postprocessing, reduce the waste of negative film, and can be transmitted through network.
