Abstract:
The chemical constituents of the soft coral Nephthea brassica collected from the South China Sea have been studied. Two ceramides 1 and 2 were isolated. The ceramide 1 is a white powder with a formula C37H75NO4, mp 113-114C, and 2 is a white powder with a formula C34H67NO3, mp 89-90C. The structures of 1 and 2 were, respectively, designated as N-2-(1 , 3, 5-tri-hydroxy octadecyl)-nonadecamide and (E)-N-2-(1, 3-dihydroxy octadecan-4-en)-hexadecamide by spectroscopic analysis and elemental analysis. The ceramide 1 was discovered in the nature for the first time.
