Abstract:
Objective To investigate the relationship between polymorphisms in the thymidylate synthase promoter enhancer region(TSER) and clinical pathological characteristics of primary colon cancer. Methods TSER polymorphisms and thymidylate synthase(TS) protein were detected by PCR and immunohistochemical staining respectively in primary foci. Results There were three genotypes of TSER including homozygous with double tandem repeats(2R/2R),homozygous with triple tandem(repeats)(3R/3R) and heterozygous with both alleles(2R/3R)in 68 cases of colon cancer(6,40,22 cases respectively). The ratio of 3R/3R was significantly higher in stage of Dukes C than stages in Dukes B and Dukes A.(Dukes A16%;Dukes B30%;Dukes C 93%,?~2=28.56,P
