Abstract:
[Objective] Effect of herbal medicines such as Radix Astragali on mutagenic micronucleus rate in Vicia Faba root-tip cells was observed for the selection of anti-tumor and anti-mutagenesis herbal medicines. [Methods] Vicia Faba root-tip cells was first treated with the mutagen of ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS) to increase the micronucleus rate, and then was treated with herbal medicines to observe their effects. [Results] Herbal medicines such as Radix Astragali (Huangqi), Rhizoma Coptidis ( Huanglian), Aloe ( Luhui), Radix Glycyrrhizac ( Gancao ), Radix Acanthopanacis Senticosi ( Ciwujia) and Fructus Lycii ( Gouqi) reduced the increased micronucleus rate induced by EMS in Vicia Faba root-tip cells, the difference being significant compared with the model group ( P
