Abstract:
[Objective] To observe the effect of long-term gavage of Folium Sennae (FS) on colic electromyogram and interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) in rats. [Methods] Forty rats were randomized into normal control group and FS group. The normal control group was fed with conventional forage. FS group was fed with dry forage mixed with FS powder for 3 months, the preliminary dose of FS was 200mg?kg-1?d-1 and then increased progressively by 100mg?kg-1?d-1 to ensure over half of the rats having diarrhea, and the final dose was 2800 mg?kg-1?d-1. The frequency and amplitude of colic slow wave were detected and the changes of myenteric plexus and ICC were observed by zinc iodide -osmic acid staining method.
