Abstract:
Objective:To evaluate the clinical profile, treatment methods, and prognosis for malignant germ cell tumors of the ovary. Methods:A total of 38 patients with malignant ovarian germ cell tumors(15 yolk sac tumors,10 dysgerminomas,9 immature teratomas, and 4 mature cystic teratomas with malignant transformation)were analyzed retrospectively. Results:The median age of the patients was 25 years(range 11~54).There were 18 FLGO stage Ⅰ tumors (47.4%),7 stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ tumors respectively(18.4%),2 stage Ⅳ tumors (5.3%),and 4 recurrent tumors (10.5%).The overall 2-year survival rate was 76.3%,the survival rate of patients with stageⅠ-Ⅱdisease was 96.0%.Of the cases who preserved fertility,6 patients had the desire of fertility,4 healthy live births were recorded. Conclusion:The cure rate of malignant ovarian germ cell tumors has improved greatly. The staging and treatment approaches are important prognostic factors.Conservative surgery and preservation of fertility are feasible.
