Abstract:
Objective To assess the potential immunological activity of anthocyanins from cherries on adjuvant arthritis (AA) rats and observe the effect on the ratio of T lymphocyte subpopulation and splenic lymphocyte and the levels of IL-6 in serum and PGE_2 in paws. Methods Sixty male Spraque Dauley rats were randomly allocated to six groups, they were normal group, model group, anthocyanins (300, 150, 75 mg/kg) -treated groups, and polyglycosides of Tripterygium wilfordii (TW)-treated group. Arthritis was induced by the complete Freunds adjuvant. The T lymphocyte subpopulation of CD3, CD4, and CD8 and CD4/CD8 value in peripheral blood were assayed by FACA Calibur flow cytometer. The splenocyte proliferation was assessed by means of MTT Assays. IL-6 levels in serum and PGE_2 in paws were determined by radioimmunoassay. Results The morphological changes in the hind limbs were conducted under a light microscope. CD3 and CD4 T cells were found decreased (P
