Abstract:
Forty-four mice were used in this experiment. The animal model of septic shock was produced by intraabdomcnal injection of the viable B. coli. The animals were divided into 5 groups. During the course of the development of the septic shock.some of the animals were killed and blood from inferior vena cava was withdrawn for the determination of cAMP, cGMP and cortisol. Tissues from both sides of the adrenal glands, lower pole of the left kidney, left ventricle and right lobe of liver were removed for determination of cAMP and cGMP. The results showed that, during the early stagenof septic shock, the levels of cAMP, cGMP and cortisol were raised, followed by steady lowering of these levels as the shock became more profound.Base on the results of this experiment the author pointed out that the large dose glucocor-ticosteroids may be useful during the early stage of septic shock
