Abstract:
344 upper extremities of 172 Chinese adults were dissected. The courses of the brachial arterial trunks were seen in nine patterns. It was found that 39 cases (11.3%) showed variations of the brachial trunks and their terminal branches.Among the 172 cadavers variations appeared bilaterally in 6 bodies (3.5%) and unilaterally in 27 bodies (15.7%).According to the data published by the Chinese authors on the same subject showed that variations always occurred more often on the right (18.7%) than on the left (10.5%).It showed be a real significant difference between the two sides. Among the 39 cases there was a single arterial trunk of the arm in 18 cases (46.15%) and two trunks in 21 cases (53.85%).In one case both trunks coursed be- hind n.medianus.In the other, only one trunk occurred as a.brachialis superficialis. Its continuation in the forearm was grouped as follows: 1.It bifurcated into a.radialis and a.ulnaris in 21 (55.2%) extremities. 2.Continued into a radialis in 16 (42.1%) extremities. 3.Ended as a brachialis accessorius into m.brachioradialis in 1 (2.7%) extremity.
