Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the effect of simvastatin on the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in rabbit aortic atherosclerotic plaques. Methods :Twenty rabbit aortic atherosclerotic models developed by hyper-lipidemic and hypercholesterol feeding were randomly divided into simvastatin treated group (n = 10) and hyperlipidemic diet group (n = 6); another 8 commonly fed rabbits were taken as control group. VEGF protein levels in atherosclerotic plaques were studied by immunohistochemistry.
