Observation on Clinical Efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine Retention-enema in the Treatment of Ulcerative Colitis

Abstract:
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine retention-enema in the treatment of ulcerative colitis. Methods 116 cases with ulcerative colitis were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with58 cases in each group. The treatment group adopted the therapy of traditional Chinese medicine retention-enema after cleaning up the bowel, while the control group adopted the therapy of conventional Western Medicine retention-enema. Both of the two groups were treated for one course. Results The total effective rate of was 87% in the treatment group and 42.5% in the control group. The difference between the two groups was obvious (P<0.05), with the treatment group being better than the control group. The retention time of medicine in intestinal tract was obviously prolonged in the treatment group. Conclusion The clinical efficacy of tradidonal Chinese medicine retention-enema treatment is obviously better than conventional Western medicine retention-enema treatment.
