Abstract:
The pre-and post-operative evaluation of ocular anterior segment with glaucoma using ultrasound bio- microscopy(UBM)was introduced. We performed UBM on 21 eyes of 17 patients, mainly for the de- tection of flat anterior chamber,cilio-choroidal de- tachment, malignant glaucoma, and the state or func- tion of the filtering bleb after filtering surgery. In the secondary glaucoma with dense corneal scars,by UBM,reliable high-resolution images delineating ana- tomic relationships and pathologic changes in the inner eye can be obtained. This information aids in surgical planning, and increases the successful rate of the glaucoma surgery. In addition,UBM is also useful in the localization and determination of the extent of ciliary body dialysis after contusion. In our initial experience,UBM is worthy in the study of the pathogenesis of glaucoma, selection of surgical cases, observation of complications and long-term postoperative follow-up.
