Abstract:
Serum apolipoprotein (Apo A-Ⅰ and Apo B) and lipid (Total cholesterol: Tch, Triglyceride: TG and HDL cholesterol: HDL-C) levels were measured in 64 patients with cerebral thrombosis and 56 healthy controls. Apo A-Ⅰ and Apo B were determined by a rate immunonephelometric assay. Apo A-Ⅰ and Apo A-Ⅰ /Apo B and LDL-C/Apo B were lower; TG and HDL/Apo A-Ⅰ were higher in patients. Stepwise discriminant analysis showed that Apo A-Ⅰ was the best discriminator. The results suggest that not only the quantitative abnormalities of lipids but also the compositional abnormalities of HDL and LDL particles are existent in cerebral thrombosis; determining the serum levels of apolipoproteins may be more useful than those of lipids.
