Abstract:
A study under laboratory control was conducted by direct-ELISA, dot-ELISA (A, B), coagglutination test and precipitin test for the mosquito bloodmeals identification of Culex Pipiens pollens at different intervals from 1 to 60 h after engorging on the blood of human, pig, chicken, dog and cow. Results indicated that direct-ELISA and dot-ELISA were of higher sensitivity and specificity than others. Dot-ELISA is an ideal method for the identification of mosquito bloodmeals because of its simplicity and rapidity, some factors such as mosquito species (Anopheles sinensis Aedes aegypti and Cu. pipiens pattern), host blood sources and mixed bloodmeals which affect the results are also discussed.
