Abstract:
52 dogs are divided into 2 groups. One group of 8 dogs is for open exposure, the other of 44 dogs for close exposure.Blast injuries are induced by the BST-I type biological shock tube with a stable, accurate and repeated waves. Some functional parameters can be measured soon after injury. The results show various degrees (from slight to extremely severe) of injuries. The severity of injury depends on the positive peak pressure affected by the volume of the high pressure chamber. It is concluded that the BST-I type biological shock tube may produce the blast waves similar to those of chemical or nuclear explosions (small yield) and inflict typical blast injuries. It is comparatively an ideal equipment for the study of blast injuries.
