Abstract:
The results of this study demonstrate that sodium pyrithione has an effect of inhibiting Candida albicans in vivo and in vitro.It may markedly improve clinical symptoms and decrease the death rate of infected animals, but its action is less than amphotericin B.There are side effects when the dosage of pyrithone is increased, and thus the drug can not be used in internal administration for tneatment of systemic mycosis.However, it is more effective for a topical treatment of dermatophytosis.
