Abstract:
Four cases of primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma of bone (2 of the femur and 2 of the tibia) were studied with light and electron microscopy. They manifested themselves as a localized painful mass clinically and an oste-olytic or cystic lesion radiographically. The histopathological features of this bone tumor were similar to those of its soft tissue yariety.Under electron microscope, 6 kinds of cells i. e. fibroblastic cells, histiocyte-like cells, xanthcytes, multinucleated giant cells, intermediate cells and undiffe-rentiated cells were identified. The histogenesis and differetial diagnosis of primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma were briefly discussed.
