Abstract:
Twenty-seven cases of acute glomerulonephritis and 6 cases of nephrolic syndrome were dynamically studied to determine the diagnostic value of the serum immune indices. In the acute stage of glomerulonephritis, the serum CH50 and C3 were markedly decreased and the extent of the decrease was closely related to the severity of the disease. If the course of the disease was prolonged, then the duration of the decrease of the serum immune indices was prolonged as well. Usually 40 days after the onset of the disease, CH50 and C3 of most cases returned to normal. It was found that the determination of serum CH50 and C3 are helpful in the differential diagnosis of acute glomerulonephritis, lipoid nephrotic syndrome and nephritic nephrosis, and it is also helpful to evaluate the severity of acute nephritis and make a prognosis. In cases of nephritis, the level of urinary bacteriolysin and CH50 reduced when the disease condition was improved. This change usually was in accord with the findings of routine urinary examination. It was considered that the urinary level of bacteriolysin is a good index of renal function. Serum IgG, IgA and IgM,the absolute number of lymphocytes, the transformation rate of lymphocytes, and the PHA skin test might also change during the improvement of the disease, but their diagnostic value is of no significance.
