Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the association of IL-18 gene promoter polymorphisms-607C/A,-137G/C with asthma in the Hans from Jiangxi province of China.Methods:Using polymerase chain reaction with sequence specific primer(pcr-ssp)/sequence method,the single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) of the promoter region of IL-18 gene at position-607 and-137 were detected in 102 asthmatic patients(group A) [40 patients with asthma and allergic rhinitis(AR)(group A1),62 patients with asthma without AR(group A2)] and 100 healty controls(group B).Results:The frequencies of allele C at position-607 in the promoter of IL-18 gene were 50.0%(group A),40.0%(group A1),56.5%(group A2),and 45.5%(group B),respectively.The frequency of allele C in group A2 was significantly higher than that in group A1(P
