Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the expression of survivin and VEGF in cholangiocarcinoma and explore its relation with clinicobiological behavior. Methods: Immunohistochemical techique was adopted in detecting the survivin and VEGF expression in cholangiocarcinoma and normal bile duct tissues. 51 samples of cholangiocarcinoma were collected in Qilu Hospital of Shandong University from January 2003 to December 2005 , and served as the test group, and 10 samples of normalbile duct tissues as control group. Results: 1)The expression rate of survivin in cholangiocarcinoma was 74.5% , whereas in normal bile duct tissue was 0% , the difference was markablely significant (P0.05). 2)The expression rate of VEGF in cholangiocarcinoma was 80.4% , whereas in normal bile duct tissue was 10% , the difference was significant (P0.05) . VEGF expression of the patients with lymph node metastasis was higher than that of group without lymph node metastasis. 3)The expression of both survivin and VEGF, and was 70.6% in the same sample. Conclusion: Survivin and VEGF may play an important role in tumor genesis, tumor progression, infiltration and metastasis of cholangiocarcinoma, and with intimate relation in angiogenesis.
