Study on clinical aspect and treatment of ambliopia due to isometrope in the children

Abstract:
The study was carried out in the National Institute of Ophthalmology from August 2001 to August 2002 on 102 children having unilateral or bilateral refractive errors and an isometrope of at least one dioptre. The patients having various amplyopia due to isometrope were usually examined lately (at the age of 6 to 10 years). The main cause of amblyopia were hypermetrope and astigmatism. All the patients were best corrected and their amblyopia was treated by eye occlusion and stimulating training. The treatment was continued by wearing full corrected glasses, occlusion of the better eye and penalization. One year after treatment, 100% of patients have improved acuity of vision. 80.3% obtained good results. The long term result in the patients having penalization with glasses was better.
