Abstract:
40 cases (-17 eyes) with ocular cysticcrcosis treated surgically in our hospital in 1981-1994 were reported, including 3(J males (31 eyes)and 1.6 females (1C eyes) and their mean age being 35 years old.Three surgical methods were used: sclerotomy for subretinal cysticercus (15 eyes), pars plana incision with aspiration (22 eyes) and vitrectomy with pars plana aspiration (10 eyes) for intravitreal cysticercus. Their successful rates of cysticercus removal were 93.3%, 90.9% and 100% respectively, with an average of 93.6%, the rates of vision remaining the same or better after surgery were 50%, 45.5% and 80%respectively with an average of 56. 5%. Vitrectomy with pars plana aspiration is the best surgical method.
