Analysis of 156 cases of dengue fever in the elderly of Macao

- Abstract: Objective To study the clinical characteristics of dengue fever (DF) in the elderly of Macao. Methods One hundred and fifty-six cases of DF in elders between August and December 2001 in Kiang Wu Hospital were analyzed retrospectively. Results The clinical symptoms in elderly DF patients was characterized by fever, pain, and rashes. The laboratory findings included leukopenia, thrombocytopenia and elevation of serum ALT levels. Compared with those of the young age group, the incidences of latter two in the elderly group were higher.
